How do I respond on yahoo dating with free email without subscribing?

I posted on yahoo dating. It said that it was free. I don’t want to up grade. Two people responded, and I con not answer them without subscribing. Basic membership with email is supposed to be free.

    You can only send ice breakers free, if you want to talk to someone you’ll have to subscribe or use the free trial.
